Curling is a game in which two teams slide curling stones over a level sheet of ice toward a 12-foot circle at either end. the racine Curling Club's season extends from early November to and offers league play and observation in their viewing area.
A Tea Dance with taped music is featured the second Tuesday of the month from 12:30 p. m. to 4:00 p. m. A $5.00 charge includes a buffet served from 12:00 p. m. to 1:00 p. m. Fish fry and dance every Friday from 5:00 p. m. to 1:00 a. m.
Ballroom dancing on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month, year-round, 8:30 p. m. to 11:30 p. m. International folk dancing. Open to the public; new people welcome. Instructions every week. Circle, line, trio and couple dances are taught. Fridays, 7:30 p. m. to 10:30 p. m.
Features drag racing every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday,Sunday as well as holidays, April through November. Call for specifics.
As a member of the Mid-Continent Football League, the Racine Raiders have won five national championships since 1981. The team established racine as the minor league "franchise of the decade." Racine Raider football games are played July through November at Horlick Field, 1648 North Memorial Drive.
Open Memorial Day through Labor Day weekend, seven days a week, 8:00 a. m. to 8:00 p. m. Entrance fee is $.75. Ages 6 and under and over 62 are admitted free.
Visit beautiful Harbor Park, a 13-acre park created by extending the lake shore out into the lake. You'll pass the Christopher Columbus monument on your way to Reefpoint Marina, where you can enjoy refreshing treats. Climb to the observation deck and watch boats on their way in and out of the harbor. Join the fishermen trying their luck on shore, or just park your car, take a walk and enjoy the view. Free admission and parking.
Here's where to get in touch with Racine's great lake! Over a mile of clean, white beach beckons, complemented by a concession stand, picnic area and bath house, with a playground at the south end. From mid-June to the end of August lifeguards are on duty from 10:00 a. m. to 7:00 p. m. Admission is free. 414.636.9233.
