Questions You Should Ask In An Interview
Questions You Should Ask In An Interview

What's your favorite part about working here?
You'll get a sense of the company culture really quick with this answer-and whether or not the recruiter truly enjoys working for the company. Additionally, asking this question can humanize the interview, allowing you and the recruiter to discover each other personally.

How would you define success in this role?
Talking about goals can show your ambition to succeed, but also set groundwork should you be offered the position. Asking this allows everyone to have some clarity into expectations for this role.

How much travel should I expect?
Getting a sense for approximately how much travel will be involved will ensure you're not blindsided by the amount of traveling you're doing after you accept the position.

What type of career paths do people typically take here?
People like rewards. Would you rather take a job without room for advancement, or a job where they have clear career paths and goals for their best and brightest employees?

Should I expect to work in a silo or collaboratively?
Okay, not literally a silo, but this will help you discover the dynamics of the team you'd be joining. While this question may not apply to all jobs, it's generally a safe one to ask in an office setting.

How would you define success in this role?
Talking about goals can show your ambition to succeed, but also set groundwork should you be offered the position. Asking this allows everyone to have some clarity into expectations for this role.

Does the company actively encourage training and learning?
Even if they don't provide money towards additional training opportunities, it's good to know if they'll allow you to set time periodically to simply grow your skill set through educational materials. It could be as simple as attending periodic webinars or reading industry articles and insights on the newest trends.

When should I expect to hear more?

Ending with this question is a good way to wrap up the interview and gives you a sense of when to expect follow-up from the recruiter. It removes the guess work from the ·well, it's been a week and I haven't heard anything" scenario. You know when to follow up if you haven't heard anything yet.
