The Best Questions to Ask Your Interviewer

The end-of-interview question "Do you have any questions for me?" provides a great opportunity to show your interest in the position you are interviewing for, as well as the company as a whole. Here are some great ideas for questions you can ask the interviewer:

1.) What is your company's mission statement?
  • A mission statement is a formal summary of the aims & values of a company or organization. This is a great way to get an inside look on what the company stands for, and also any goals they are looking to accomplish from a business standpoint.
  • It is important to make sure this is not easily found with a simple Google search, as the interviewer might think you should of done your research before the interview. If you can find their mission statement online, simply ask the interviewer to elaborate on their company's mission statement from their point of view. This not only shows that you did your research on the company you are interviewing for, but also shows you are interested & engaged in the person you are speaking with.
2.) What does a normal day look like for this position?
  • This question allows you to have a discussion on the daily tasks you would be responsible for completing if you are hired for the position. This is not only very useful for you to know, but it lets the employer know that you are really determined to picture yourself in the role and working for them & their company.
3.) What has been your all-time favorite moment while working for this company?
  • Again, this kind of question shows that you are interested & engaged in the person you are speaking with. It shows that you are curious to get their insight on the best parts of working for the company.
  • Interviews are a great way to learn as much as possible about a company or organization. This question allows you to get an inside look on the best parts about working there, & allows you to hear more about the kind of moments you can look forward to experiencing there, too.
4.) What makes your job hard?
  • When applying to any company, you know that there are going to be ups and downs. This question shows that you acknowledge that & are interested in the things that the firm may struggle with. It also shows that you are looking to potentially help make their job a little bit easier if you are hired for the position.
