'Cad Engineer' (CE)

General job description would be to use AutoCAD to be responsible for generating assigned Sales

Order ‘SO’ Customer Submittal drawings, Bill of Materials ‘BoM’s. After customer approval generate

the manufacturing ‘Job Packets’. The following further describes work but not necessarily in order

or limited to the following basics:

 Learn use of AutoCAD 14 ‘User’ desktop layout profile and related custom

commands with integrated Bill of Materials ‘BoM’ and AutoCAD enhancements.

 All drawing work and procedures have been programmed to help the structure and

maintenance of the Cad Department.

o Understand ‘CadEng’s Procedures’ defining how the Cad Department functions and

suggest updates during Cad biweekly Cad meetings for improvements and ideas.

 Become indoctrinated with all products and generate Customer Submittal ‘Cust Sub’

drawings, ‘BoM’, and after customer approval generate the Job Packet assembly drawings

for the production floor.

o All Cust Sub’s, BoM’s, & Job Packets are reviewed by others by way of SO / Product

dependent of magnitude.

 Primary Cad drawing time would be via 2D type .dwg work and other minor simple 3D Sales

required preliminary submittal drawings via AutoDesk’s Inventor program.

 Understand how Assembly drawings are manufactured to the degree where those drawings

and procedures might be improved.

o The CE is at liberty to visit the Production Floor to view how his assigned SO Job is

progressing and make notes on those drawings to later update the as built master

‘Mas’ Job drawing when returned after shipment.

 After Cust Sub’s are issued, the CE occasionally receive phone calls from the client with

technical questions that might arise relating to customer submittal approval.

o Occasionally follow-up phone calls are required as to when the issued Cust Subs are

expected to be returned signed and dated marked ‘Approved for Production’.

 Upon return of the Job Packet to the CE following product shipment, the Job Packet is

reviewed and archive scanned and discarded to close the CE’s assigned SO Job

responsibility.

 As a Cad team member, offer guidance to other ‘CE’s relating to their customer questions.
