• Ability to read and interpret drawings an cutting lists as required.
• Follow OSHA lockout- tagout procedures when machines must be shut down for repair.
• Operate machines and shop tools--drill press, saws, punch press, lathe, vertical milling machine, surface grinder, broacher, and other hand tools.
• Perform minor die repairs.
• Use precision measuring and gauging tools--micrometer, and calipers to perform inspection before you start a job and at completion.
• Assist the lower classification machinist as needed.
• Grease equipment per machine specifications.
• Assist pipe fitter trainees and pipe fitter B with duties.
• Graduate of technical school, full apprenticeship program or completion of in-company four year training program to satisfaction of plant training committee
• Three or more years of experience as a fully qualified machinist
• Close attention and care is required to prevent damage to complex machine tools or costly metals
• Ability to read job orders, blueprints, and specifications
• Ability to produce precision work
• Visual acuity to read and write
• Physical ability to do work requiring frequent stooping and bending
• Physical strength to lift and carry 25 pounds frequently and up to 75 pounds on occasions
• Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a variety of hand tools
