JOB DESCRIPTION –
Sets up and operates plasma numerical control machine to cut metal work
pieces to shop drawing specifications by performing the following duties.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Reviews setup file and drawing specifications from shop supervisor to determine
set up procedure.
2. Moves materials to and from machine.
3. Positions and secures work-piece on machine.
4. Assembles cutting tips in torch head and positions torch head on machine as
specified.
5. Enters commands to retrieve preprogrammed machine instructions.
6. Possesses working knowledge of nesting software.
7. Manipulates controls and enters commands to index cutting tool to specified set
point and to start machine.
8. Observes and listens to machine operation to detect malfunctions.
9. Changes cutting tips and location of work piece during machining process.
10. Accurately measures work piece for conformance to specifications and marks work
pieces with identifying information.
11. Prepares record of inventory drop used by job.
12. Arranges drop by thickness and utilizes drop to reduce inventory.*
13. Performs receiving function as needed.
14. Represents the company with the highest professional and ethical standards in
dealing with internal and external customers.
15. Keeps area clean and organized.

Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and six months experience; or
one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of
education and experience.
