Shipping and Receiving Clerk
Working under the supervision of the Shipping Supervisor, the Shipping and Receiving Clerk will assist in our high paced shipping and receiving department, ensuring parts are received on time as well as orders and jobs are being shipped out in a timely matter. A successful shipping clerk must be able to multi-task and be comfortable using ERP/MRP system software with knowledge of domestic and international shipments. This is a full-time hourly position. The hours of work and days will be Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 3:00pm with a 30 minute unpaid lunch. Additional overtime is required when work load demands it.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES, GOALS, AND ACCOUNTABILITY:
Prepare items for same day shipments both nationally and internationally.
Meet daily with supervisor to review his/her daily work schedule, discuss and resolve problems, concerns or issues.
Establish and maintain positive working relationships with employees around you in the shipping area.
Meet department and company goals and objectives.
Maintain organizational function of the inventory room.
Use ERP/MRP system software to track, check, prioritize and route orders.
Oversee incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
Solid understanding of both domestic and international shipping (outbound and inbound) as well as trucking.
Communicate effectively with trucking companies and vendors; enter into contracts when necessary with the approval of upper management.
Have knowledge of packing slips, bill of ladings, shipment requirement notifications, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.
Attend and participate in corporate training when necessary.
Assist other workers in shipping and receiving activities.
Resolve issues regarding shipped orders with the correct personnel
Collaborate with warehouse, purchasing, customer service, production and other managers to optimize processes.
Determine space requirements and position of shipment in containers and trucks optimizing layout and position of the shipment.
Determine routing and legal load limits of trucks, according to established schedules and weight limits of states ensuring shipping due dates are met.
Enter all required information into the computerized systems to create and maintain the area work flow. Prepare shipping paperwork, documents, letters, correspondence, etc. as needed.
Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
Follow company communication procedures, guidelines and policies.
High School Diploma with 1-3 years of shipping and receiving experience.
Self-motivated, energetic, dependable, honest, and thorough. A versatile, self-starter with a positive attitude, who is cautiously assertive.

Competent with computer software such as, Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint).
Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as open quotations, orders, service logs, and procedure manuals. Ability to prepare reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with employees of the organization. Must have excellent communication, presentation, and active listening skills.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure (using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals). Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems in standardized situations. Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time effectively while working in a fast paced environment.
The employee must be able to operate a forklift and occasionally lift and/or move 15 to 50 pounds bent 45 degrees at the waist. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. While performing the duties of this job, the employee if frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
