JOB DESCRIPTION –

 Lays out, fits, and welds fabricated components to assemble structural

building frames by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together according to provided

drawings/specificationsheets.*

2.Clamps and tack-welds parts in position for welding.*

3.Completes finish welds according to weld manual.*

4.Obtains review and approval of finished piece from lead person or plant

supervisor,*

5.Repairs welds that do not meet specifications.*

6.Repairs minor fit and set-up defects in product by dismantling, straightening,

reshaping and reassembling parts.*

7.Cleans finished product prior to moving.*

8.Moves finished product to paint area.*

9.Assists other welders.

10.Advises plant supervisor of problems.

11.Assists in training new employees.

12.Resolves problems.

13.Assists in other areas when needed.

14.Cleans work station.

Education/Experience:

Welding certificate from technical school; and six months related experience and/or

training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability:

 Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and documents such as safety rules, operating

and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and

correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of

organization. Language abilities are required in the English Language.

Math Ability:

 Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers,

common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw

and interpret bar graphs.

Welding Certificate

 

Equipment:

Regularlyis required to operate the following equipment in a safe, and effective manner:

Forklift, Jib crane, Hand tools, Grinder/torch, Welding equipment, and Measuringtools

 

Personal Protective Equipment:

Regularly is required to wear the following personal protective equipment, as applicable

for the work performed or location: Safety glasses, Safety shoes, Hearing protection

Gloves, ace shield, Welding helmet, Protective garments

 

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or

air borne particles; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee is occasionally

exposed o work near moving mechanical parts; work in high, precarious places; toxic or

caustic chemicals; outdoor weather conditions; extreme heat (non-weather); work with

explosives and risk of radiation.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
