ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as

management may deem necessary from time to time.

1. Designs electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic controls equipment and systems, specifies components, programs, and field commissions systems and machinery for

the converting industry.

2. Drafts using Solidworks Electrical and AutoCad for schematics and layouts for controls, instruments, and systems. Systems will typically be for electrical, hydraulic,

and pneumatic controls and drive systems.

3. Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform design and documentation tasks. This will include, but not limited to, bill of materials,

CAD drawings, interconnect spreadsheets, and operator manual documents.

4. Assists with activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements.

5. Develops software programs for control systems and machinery. This includes programming PLC’s, operator interfaces, and drives. Typical machine programming

software is Rockwell Automation, but may include other software.

6. Proficient with Rockwell Automation software.

7. Troubleshoots systems (hardware and software).

8. Researches new products and parts.

9. Will act as lead engineer on most assigned projects and assist level I, II, and service engineers.

10. Designs and directs engineering personnel in fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, and determines methods, procedures, and conditions for testing products.

11. Directs and coordinates operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in floor or field installations.

12. Provides operator training to customers on the machinery.

13. Performs field startup of equipment and field service calls.

14. Familiar with and adheres to the National Electric Code (NFPA 70) and the Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery (NFPA 79) in design of machinery.

15. Works with customers to resolve technical issues and concerns. Responds to and resolves service calls from customers.

16. Assists the CSI Manager in providing technical direction and component selection for Controls Engineers and department standards. Provides estimates of electrical

engineering content and proposed architectures for future projects in place of the CSI Manager when necessary.

17. Follows all company policies and procedures.

18. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises contract personnel and level I and II engineers as needed on a per project basis.

Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work, answering technical questions, and resolving issues.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology and 6 or more years related experience.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Domestic and International travel is required (average 5% - 25%) for machine startups, service calls, meetings, and training.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
