EDM Set-up Tech kzz
A Conventional EDM Setup Technician shall meet the following qualifications:
1. At least Three (3) years of Conventional EDM Setup experience
Essential Job Functions:
1. Communicate with Department Manager daily for job assignments and instructions
2. Read and interpret blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, and related technical data to plan and determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, machining parameters, and machining methods and sequences
3. Review setup sheet, quality routing, and specifications to determine setup procedure, machining sequence, and dimensions of finished workpiece
4. Determine appropriate electrode material and machine electrodes
5. Position and secure workpiece on machine table with clamps, vise, or fixture, and load electrode and other machining media into machine; Indicate and position both based on setup plan
6. Load control media or retrieve preprogrammed machine instructions from data base
7. Determine/adjust machine parameters to maximize cutting efficiency
8. Observe and listen to machine operation to detect malfunctions
9. Perform general machine maintenance, housekeeping, and organization of shop
10. Training
11. May program MDI
12. Communicate with alternate shift personnel as to current operating status of assigned machines
13. Measure workpiece for conformance to specifications, using various inspection media, recording data when required
14. Notify Department Manager of discrepancies
15. Any other duties as assigned by the Conventional EDM Manager.
Marginal Job Functions:
1. May work only from a blueprint
2. May program CAD/CAM
3. May act as project manager for assigned manufacturing orders
4. Operation of other machines such as Wire EDM, CMM, machining centers, etc. when so instructed
5. Maintain statistical process control charts
