Key responsibilities include:
§ Use mechanical, computer and/or electronic technology to develop solutions to problems.
§ Work with business partners to identify automation opportunities. Program, Install and integrate PLC logic on custom Control Boxes, equipment and test fixtures (PLC’s & HMI’s)
§ Lead engineering subtasks involving design, development and maintain broad range of electrical/electronic and mechanical systems or components by focusing on safety, economy, reliability, sustainability and quality.
§ Define test scenarios, create test plans, and execute test scripts for current and new control box per customer requirements
§ Transform electromechanical drawings into design specifications, applying principles of engineering, mathematics and statistics.
§ When needed, and in conjunction with CAD Designers, make drawings from solid models, following Engineering Standards. Independently work on wiring schematics.
§ Maintain project records; prepare technical, cost and other reports as requested to show progress and results achieved.
§ Contribute sound professional advice and creative new ideas, concepts and approaches relative to new product design and development projects. Keep abreast and well informed of state-of-the-art and important events in areas relevant to loading dock design and development through publications, outside contacts, meetings, shows, seminars and short courses.
§ Work to develop individual goals/objectives to support the department goals through the use of the Performance Appraisal Process.
§ Personally demonstrate the core values of Service, Excellence, Accountability and Teamwork.
RELATIONSHIPS & CONTACTS
Supervisory Relationships:
§ Reports to Engineering Director
External Business Relationships:
· Frequent contact with suppliers and manufacturing group.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
§ Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical/Electronic engineering or Controls Engineering
§ Minimum of 2 years work experience in Mechanically inclined Business, Robotic Process Automation (Epson, FANUC) or related area
§ Knowledgeable in Mechanical engineering calculations, Material selection and Manufacturing Processes
§ Knowledgeable and experienced in Allen Bradley or Siemens or Omron or Unitronics PLC-HMI programing. Proficiency in computer software mandatory: SolidWorks Routing, MS Excel and Word.
§ Excellent troubleshooting skills, Vision integration experience is strongly desired (Cognex, Keyence)
§ Good understanding of IoT application (PTC - Thingworx) and integration is required
§ Must demonstrate ability to read electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic prints and schematics
§ Candidate must demonstrate the ability to work with minimum supervision, show great attention to detail and demonstrate strong accuracy and accountability skills.
§ Must be self-directed, detail-oriented, and possess excellent communication and computer skills.
§ Must have ability to prioritize work effectively, meet deadlines, and resolve conflicts with minimal supervision concerning assignments varying from routine to complex.
§ Able to analyze, synthesize and meaningfully communicate engineering related information and data on a regular basis.
