Maintenance Technician - 2nd Shift gea

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES (non-inclusive)

• Perform highly varied duties to assemble, clean, install, maintain, and troubleshoot production machines and equipment.

• Troubleshoot to ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing scheduled, unscheduled/emergency, and routine preventative maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, hydraulic and other production machines by following diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer’s instructions and/or engineering specifications.

• Use root cause analyses to identify sources of problems on inoperative machines/equipment by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for irregular noises, identifying problems by using visual inspections; uses precision measuring and testing instruments.

• Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.

• Diagnose problems, replace, or repair parts, test, and adjust as needed according to manufacturer's specifications.

• Maintain machinery/equipment using hand/power tools, measuring/testing instruments, hoists, cranes.

• Work with purchasing to get the correct machine parts and inventory necessary parts stock to keep the machines running properly.

• Maintain a schedule for inspecting, servicing, and testing machinery noting any irregularities. Prepare and submit mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, summarizing, and entering relevant information and trends in maintenance tracking program.

• Contribute to an environment in which all staff are respected regardless of their individual differences and are motivated to improve individual and work area contributions to achieve desired business results.

• Participate in related staff, team, and/or task group meetings to ensure constant communication of key items.

• Ensure that all operations are within established guidelines and conform to CPC health and safety standards. Maintain a clean and organized work area.

• Maintain current knowledge for this position and within the work area through continuing education, subscriptions, certifications, and memberships; develop thorough working knowledge of area methods, productivity, and quality.

• Conduct a continuous study of internal processes and methods, research new technology and develop proposals for application of such technology for the purposes of cost reduction and process improvement.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

1. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 2. Education, training, and experience equivalent to a high school diploma / GED with at least 2 years of directly related experience in a manufacturing environment. Coursework should be supplemented with electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems. Must be fluent in speaking and writing English and possess a basic knowledge level of MS Excel, Word, and Outlook. Must possess a solid knowledge and understanding of the principles and methods involved in manufacturing maintenance processes, local building codes and government regulations, agency rules involved in areas of licensure, and applicable safety and OSHA requirements. Must have or be able to attain forklift licensure. Must possess the ability to build positive team relationships and achieve outcome-oriented objectives; working knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies with a holistic viewpoint; ability to work in a fast-paced environment, setting priorities and managing time effectively. Ability to work independently, managing work orders and deadlines while maintaining an awareness of other business dependencies, when completing assigned duties.

3. Must possess the ability to read, analyze and interpret business and technical documents, flow charts, budget information, procedure manuals and so on; the ability to prepare required routine reports and correspondence; ability to communicate effectively with others (verbally and in writing), using skill and diplomacy and have the ability to work with all levels of the organization.

4. Requires the ability to work within established health, safety and quality guidelines and the ability to organize workspaces, the workload and meet deadlines.

5. Must possess working knowledge in automated systems and terminology and the ability to develop and interpret related reports using spreadsheet, word processing and related software. Requires the ability to operate a variety of standard business machines, such as a computer and keyboard, a calculator, telephone, FAX, photocopier and so on.

6. Must possess the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, using whole numbers/decimals and the ability to apply concepts of business math to practical situations.

7. Must possess the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram format. Must possess strong knowledge, understanding and experience in various problem-solving and participatory management techniques.
